Loyalty tiers allow you to reward your most loyal customers. When customers achieve higher tiers, they'll receive greater rewards! The below guide will show you how to set these up and enable them!

Setting up a Tiered Program
Adding a Tier
To add your first tier, select Add Tier 👇
You'll then be presented with a page to set up the following:
🏷Name
🌟 Milestone threshold (how many points needed to reach tier)
👤 Icon (choose from default or upload a custom)
☕️ Perks (Enter a list of any additional perks that you would like to award to customers who are in this tier. Please note that you will need to manage & handle perks manually outside of your Influence system)
Hit create when you are done and repeat the process for as many tiers as you require!
Tier Program Settings
There are two settings you can change under Tiers Settings.
The first, is your program start date. The customers tier is based on the program start date.
The second, is how the customers achieve the milestones, whether that be points spent or amount spent.
Activating your Tier Program
Once you were happy and ready to set your Tier Program live, you can do so by toggling the Loyalty Tiers page the Enable.
Shopify Settings ⚙️
You can tag Shopify customers with their relevant tier. This allows you to create pages within the store that are only visible by customers with a specific tag, making some tier specific rules easier to manage.
Note: The tagging is a one way system, we can tag the Shopify customers, but tagging the customer in Shopify won’t move them into the relevant tier within influence.io
Frequently Asked Questions ❓
Can I set tiers to reset on a specific date every year (e.g. January 1st)?
Not currently. The program start date is set to the date the Loyalty Tiers program was first activated, and this cannot be manually changed to a specific calendar date.
Is there a workaround to reset tiers at the start of a new year?
There are two workarounds available, though both have trade-offs:
Disable and re-enable the program on January 1st — this resets the program start date to that day. However, customers who enrolled at different times may end up with different effective start dates if the program has been toggled more than once.
Set point expiry to 6 months (to expire points by end of year), then update to a 12-month cycle — this is an approximation and does not precisely replicate a calendar-year tier reset.
Does tier calculation include purchases made before the program was activated?
No. Tier calculations are based on spend or points earned from the program start date (activation date) onwards. Purchases made before activation do not count towards a customer's tier threshold.
Note: If a customer's historical points have been imported into Influence.io, those points will appear in their balance, but they will not affect their tier standing.
Can customers move down a tier?
Amount Spent tiers: No. Once a customer reaches a tier based on their cumulative spend, they stay in that tier. Tiers only go up — a customer's spend is cumulative and does not decrease.
How does Shopify tier tagging work when customers change tiers?
When Shopify tagging is enabled, Influence.io manages tier tags automatically:
Customer joins a tier → tagged in Shopify with that tier
Customer moves up a tier → old tier tag removed, new tier tag applied
Customer moves down a tier → old tier tag removed, new tier tag applied
Note: Tagging is one-directional. Influence.io can tag customers in Shopify, but adding a tag directly in Shopify will not move a customer into the corresponding tier within Influence.io.
