Introduction 📖

Referrals are a great way to attract new customers, by allowing your existing customers to refer their friends in exchange for rewards.

Requirements

Influence.io Starter plan (or above)

Instructions ⚙️

📍 Navigate to Loyalty Program >> Referrals

You will need to set up two rewards for the referral section:

Referrer Reward & Referee Reward

To get started, press “Add a reward”, here you can define what rewards will be given during the referral process 👇

You can do this via the Amount Discount, Percentage Discount & Free Shipping.

Creating these rewards works exactly the same as creating redeem rules. You can learn how to do this here

You are also able to give loyalty points to the referrer once the referral is completed

Completion Trigger

If the friend enters their email after clicking the referral link, this will then generate a discount code, for example, 1234. We will then mark the referral as completed, giving the customer who sent the link a reward based on the selected trigger:

Email Or Discount

This would work when an order was placed by the referred friend under their email with no discounts applied or if an order was placed by someone else but they used the discount code that was generated from the referred friend clicking the referral link.

This means that only one of the two conditions has to be met to be seen as a completed referral - this is a good option for high value stores, who may want to add a minimum spend to their discount codes, but still want referrals to be accessible for all customers.

Email & Discount

An order was placed using the referred friend's email and an order exists using the discount code — these do not have to be on the same order, but both actions must have been taken. This option is best suited for the majority of stores.

Link Sharing

Within the widgets, there are sharing options for referral links. Here you can define which options are shown, as well as the default messaging that is displayed.

Custom Domain (Requires Plus plan or higher)

You can setup a custom domain for your referrals link, so it further matches your brand. However, you will need to update your DNS Settings to achieve this.

Landing Page

By default, the referral link will take the customer to the homepage of your website. If you don’t have any widgets installed here, the pop-up won’t work preventing new customers from signing up to receive their rewards. If you are using the Full Page Widget, you would need to link your customers to the page you have installed this on.
