Point Expiry in Your Loyalty Program

Point expiry helps re-engage customers by creating a time window for unused points. Influence can automatically expire points after a period of inactivity and optionally send reminder emails before expiry.

This feature is available on the Plus plan and above.

🔍 Navigation

To manage point expiry settings:

  1. Go to Loyalty Program → Earn & Redeem

  2. Scroll to the Point Expiry

⚙️ Configuring Point Expiry

  • Point Expiry Duration: Choose when points should expire if there has been no account activity:

    • 3 Months

    • 6 Months

    • 1 Year

    • 2 Years

  • Point Expiry Notifications: Send automated email reminders to customers before their points expire to encourage engagement. This will only trigger emails from within Influence, this will not send integration events.

✅ What counts as “qualifying account activity” (resets expiry)

When any of the following happen, the expiry clock is reset (i.e., expiry = activity date + duration):

  • Any point earn rule configured with Point expiry interactions enabled (Earn & Redeem, Referrals, Loyalty Tiers, Memberships, StampCard)

  • Redeeming points (any redemption)

  • Manual account adjustments made by an admin

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What triggers point expiry?
Point expiry is based on customer activity, not the original date points were earned.

Do points expire individually?
No, all points in a customer’s account expire together.

Can earn rules prevent points from expiring?
Yes, earn rules that add points and have “Point Expiry Interactions” enabled will push back the expiry date. For example, birthday points awarded each year may keep points from expiring.

Does redeeming points update the expiry date?

Yes, when a customer redeems points we'll update their point expiry date.
